Once more without messing up (hopefully). Does anyone know how to get rid of Win XP's default screen savers?

This is of course embarrasing. 3 Posts for such a silly question. The savers are 3D flower box, pipes, text, flying objects. They drive me nuts trying to rid myself of them.

In your Windows\system32 folder look for any files named:
ss3dfo.scr
ssbezier.scr
ssflwbox.scr
ssmarque.scr
ssmypics.scr
ssmyst.scr
sspipes.scr
ssstars.scr
sstext3d.scr
Those are the screensavers installed with XP

O.K. here's the real problem. The savers are in a Backup dll that when the savers are deleted they are automatically restored. Cracking into the dll is not advised by MS. I've tried to delete them by going into the system32 folder and deleting them but to no avail. Why use a screensaver!?! Why they're purdy that's why! Thanks away ya'll. I guess I'm stuck.

Are they really taking up so much space that you need to delete them? I suppose you'd rather not have them in the list, but that seems to be a minor problem as I doubt you change the saver that ofte.
I agree with a previous poster though that there is no need for a screensaver. I don't even look at the screen if I'm not using the pc and its better to have the screen off to save energy. It comes on quick enough by moving the mouse or hitting a key if I should need to use the pc.

Easier to simply set XP to not use screensavers than to hack the system to get rid fo the files.
I just have my monitor power off after a while. That is, I do that on my LCD monitor as it's so quick to turn on and off. The old monitor on my parents computer takes a while until the picture appear.
